Storage Tips: Long Term Storage and Care for your Water Filters
Survivor Filter Lifespan?
Once your Survivor Filter is used or opened out of it's original package, the lifespan is dependent on the amount of liters of water filtered through the filter. Our Ultra Filters on both the Survivor Filter PRO/Electric PRO X and Straw are warranted up to 100,000 liters of use and the Carbon Filter is warranted up to 1,000 liters on the Survivor Filter Straw and up to 2,000 liters on the PRO/PRO X. As for the ACTIVE Filtration bottle, it is warranted up to 378 liters.
Tip: A rule of thumb for the Carbon Filter is 2 years and we would recommend replacing it after this point.

Survivor Filter Storage Tips and Tricks
The Survivor Filter is the perfect emergency equipment for your Bug Out Bag or survival kit. We have designed it to be able to store right out of the box.
We have found that many customers like to keep Carbon Filters in plastic baggies while in storage to prevent any moisture from accumulating. It is also best to ensure that every piece of your Survivor Filter is dry before putting away for long-term storage.
One of the ways that our colleagues here store their own set of Survivor Filter is in a reusable Ziploc-type bag. He puts several Survivor Filters, our Canteens and food rations in bags like this in case of an emergency. This is not a necessary step for long-term storage, but it is a great way to ensure that no moisture gets to the filters and allows you to keep all your emergency food / water in the same spot!
Even if you are keeping the products in long term storage, we recommend taking them out and testing them every once in a while. This is to ensure that the products still work and that you/your family know how to use them. It is also best to ensure that every piece of your Survivor Filter is dry before putting away for long-term storage.
